Managing your account

Verifying your identity

Find out how to verify your identity and what documents you'll need.

To keep your money safe and meet regulatory requirements, we need to verify your identity. This applies whether you're opening a savings account, applying for a mortgage or managing an account with us.

If you’re an existing customer, we may also ask you to reconfirm your identity when you update details, such as changing your name or address, or if you haven’t used your account in a long time.

The information below explains how identity checks work in different situations, what documents you'll need and how to submit them.

What documents will I need to open an account?

We use an electronic verification system when you open a savings account.

If we're unable to verify your identity electronically, we'll ask you to provide proof of your identity and address. You may also need to provide documents if you're opening an account for someone under 18 or applying for a mortgage.

Select a question below to find out what you'll need. We can only accept original documents or certified copies.
